Ethiopia is one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies and during the EU Ethiopia Business Forum in Addis Ababa the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, announced a new major investments package for Ethiopia. This will strengthen the partnership between EU and Ethiopia and advance the European Global Gateway investment in Ethiopia under its Global Gateway strategy, unlocking hundreds of millions of euros for energy, digital infrastructure, and agribusiness.

This EU support creates major opportunity for private sector expansion. Now it is time for Sweden also to grow with Ethiopia. For example, Sweden have leading companies and innovations in Cleantech and Information Technology and EU launched a €269 million program to expand rural electricity access and modernize the national grid, and they also launched a €150 million Digital Economy Package aim to install 2,500 kilometres of fibre optic infrastructure. This can be Swedish opportunities not only EU opportunities. Also, the new Addis Ababa Airport will be a massive infrastructure projects for years to come.
